Conditions

Small joint, high demand.

The elbow concentrates the forces of throwing, racquet sports, lifting, and manual work into a compact joint. Accurate diagnosis distinguishes tendon problems from nerve, ligament, and joint sources, because each one is treated differently.

Evaluation

How an elbow visit is structured.

  • History including sport, technique, equipment, and work demands
  • Tendon, ligament, nerve, and joint examination
  • Dynamic ultrasound of tendons and the ulnar nerve in motion
  • Review of MRI and X-ray with a clinical correlate
  • Distinguishing lateral and medial epicondylitis from ligament and nerve problems
  • Ultrasound-guided therapeutic procedures when indicated

Common conditions evaluated

  • Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
  • Medial epicondylitis (golfer’s elbow)
  • Ulnar collateral ligament injury
  • Ulnar nerve symptoms at the elbow
  • Elbow stiffness after injury
  • Olecranon bursitis

The evaluation

How Dr. Goldwaser evaluates an elbow.

An elbow visit starts with the demand: throwing volume, racquet technique, lifting, or manual work. Dr. Goldwaser takes a history tied to sport, technique, equipment, and workload, then examines tendon, ligament, nerve, and joint separately. Dynamic ultrasound watches the tendons and the ulnar nerve move in real time, and prior imaging is reviewed against the examination. Sorting lateral from medial tendon pain, and tendon pain from ligament or nerve problems, is what makes the plan precise, and a written plan covers activity, rehabilitation, and - only when they earn a place - procedure options.

Treatment options

Most elbow pain is a tendon problem - and that’s our specialty.

The elbow concentrates big forces into a small joint: the plan starts by naming which structure is actually failing.

A · Care through the practice

Care available through the practice

  • Distinguishing epicondylitis from ligament and nerve sources before any treatment
  • Image-guided injections for joints, bursae, and tendon sheaths
  • Orthobiologic procedures for chronic tennis- and golfer’s-elbow tendon conditions
  • Shockwave therapy for chronic tendon pain
  • Technique, equipment, and workload modification
  • Structured rehabilitation with clear milestones

If your case needs care outside the practice, including surgical care, Dr. Goldwaser will refer you to the right specialist.

Recovery

Rehabilitation protects the result.

Elbow procedures are scheduled alongside rehabilitation, not instead of it. After a guided procedure or biologic treatment, you leave with written aftercare, activity limits, and milestone-based criteria for returning to throwing, racquet sports, or lifting, because the forces that caused the problem have to be managed, not just the tissue.
