Conditions

Knees carry everything. The evaluation should match the load.

From ligament injuries to patellar tendinopathy to osteoarthritis, knee problems share a joint but demand very different plans. The visit starts with what the knee has to do, then works backward to the tissue.

Evaluation

How a knee visit is structured.

  • History tied to mechanism, sport, and training load
  • Hands-on examination of ligaments, menisci, and patellofemoral tracking
  • Point-of-care ultrasound where it adds information
  • Review of prior MRI and X-ray with a clinical correlate
  • Mechanical alignment and movement assessment
  • A written plan covering activity, rehabilitation, and procedure options when appropriate

Common conditions evaluated

  • ACL and other ligament injuries
  • Meniscus tears
  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
  • Patellofemoral pain
  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Bursitis and tendinopathy around the knee

The evaluation

How Dr. Goldwaser evaluates a knee.

A knee visit starts with what the knee has to do. Dr. Goldwaser takes a history tied to the mechanism of injury, your sport or training load, and what “back to normal” means for you, then examines the ligaments, menisci, and patellofemoral tracking by hand. Point-of-care ultrasound lets him watch the tissue move in real time, and any prior MRI or X-ray is reviewed against what the examination finds, not instead of it. Alignment and movement are assessed before a written plan covers activity, rehabilitation, and - only when they earn a place - procedure options.

Treatment options

Most knee problems have an answer here.

Every plan starts with an accurate diagnosis, then the options are laid out honestly, including when the right answer is a surgeon, not this office.

A · Care through the practice

Care available through the practice

  • Accurate diagnosis first: many “bad knees” are actually tracking, loading, or tendon problems
  • Image-guided injections for joints and bursae
  • Orthobiologic procedures for selected tendon and joint conditions
  • Shockwave therapy for chronic tendon and fascia pain
  • Bracing, activity modification, and load management
  • Structured rehabilitation with clear milestones

If your case needs care outside the practice, including surgical care, Dr. Goldwaser will refer you to the right specialist.

Recovery

The plan continues after the visit.

Interventional procedures are scheduled alongside rehabilitation, not instead of it. After a guided procedure or biologic treatment, you leave with written aftercare, activity limits, and milestone-based return-to-activity criteria, because the procedure is only one part of getting the knee back to work.
